Case Study
Penyclawdd & Llangovan Village Hall gets new lease of life

The Village Hall at Penyclawdd just outside Raglan had been in disrepair for many years. Poor kitchen and toilet facilities combined with limited car parking had resulted in very few groups using the Hall and the situation was deteriorating.

Rural Community Action worked with the Hall's Management Committee to access grants for the total refurbishment of the building, and thanks to a grant from Article 33 and 20% match funding from Monmouthshire County Council Umbrella Fund, the Hall re-opened on May 12th 2007 with up to date facilities.

The project has included extensive internal alteration, including a new kitchen & internal ladies and gents toilets with disabled facilities. The whole building has been re-wired and re-decorated and a new heating system installed. The Hall now also provides full access and facilities for the disabled. A new car park has recently been granted planning permission and the Hall is now fully open for business and accepting bookings.
